Zugspitze: Germany's tallest mountain and glacier

This day trip takes you down on one of the most enjoyed Bavarian highways to charming Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Having passed through the cosy village of Garmisch-Partenkirchen you will soon reach Zugspitzbahn to take you up to the summit of Germany's tallest mountain: Zugspitze. To reach the summit you will take the new Zugspitze Cable Car, climbing up the mountain in just ten minutes travel time. Once you'll leave the cable car at 3,000 meters above sea level, you will experience more than 400 snow-capped peaks of the Alps, virtually taking you from the Wetterstein Mountains to Austria and even Switzerland from a bird's eye view. In winter you can be sure to walk on a lot of snow and see people skiing. But also in summer snow is always visible thanks to the altitude.

For those who like things a bit faster there is a toboggan hill available on the eternal ice during the summer months. Toboggans can be borrowed free of charge. In the many restaurants (which also offer vegetarian and halal menus) you can indulge in culinary delights. The descent then takes place with the historic rack railway, taking you down from the glacier back to Garmisch on Eibsee level.

Of course, there's not only Zugspitze Cable Car: With a huge mountain like Zugspitze you might also get a glimpse of Eibsee Cable Car, Gletscherbahn and other lifts.
