Oberammergau is best known for its famous Passion Play, which is performed every ten years and tells the story of the last five days in the life of Jesus Christ. Originally created as a pious promise after surviving a plague epidemic, the Oberammergau Passion Play has become one of the most famous in the world under the current direction of Christian Stückl.
