Breathtaking mountain scenery and historical legacy

When it comes to Berchtesgaden, the route truly becomes the destination: We take you along the German Alpine Road, where one spectacular panoramic view chases the next, straight into the idyllic Berchtesgadener Land and the Berchtesgaden National Park. Once the Bavarian kings spent their summer here in the Alps, today you can truly feel regal in this unique climatic area. Learn more about the eventful history of the place and visit the documentation Obersalzberg. A multimedia exhibition documents the history of Obersalzberg in conjunction with the National Socialist dictatorship under Hitler. Just a few meters away, your special bus is waiting for you and will take you to Kehlsteinhaus (Eagle´s Nest)*. Take the tunnel lift to ascent through the inside of the mountain 124 meters high to the historic vantage point atop the scenic Königssee. The breathtaking view of the Bavarian Alps National Park and the mighty Watzmann is among the finest in Germany.

The Kehlsteinhaus, which today occupies a mountain restaurant, offers a unique view of the Berchtesgaden mountains and, on the other hand, it is a reminder of the abysses of the inhuman Nazi dictatorship.
